Two-component Room Temperature Cure RTV Silicones

Tow component silicone rubber (RTV-2) refers to a group of silicone rubber compounds that cure at room temperature, creating strong and resilient elastomers.

Two-component silicone rubber is usually made up of two parts a base compound and a curing agent. The base compound consists of polymer chains that have reactive functional groups like vinyl or hydride, which help in cross-linking. On the other hand, the curing agent triggers the crosslinking process when it is mixed with the base compound.

RTV-2 silicone can be cured through two processes: condensation or addition cure. In the condensation cure process, the curing agent reacts with ambient moisture to produce by-products like alcohol or acetic acid, creating crosslinking sites and resulting in a firm elastomeric structure. Conversely, addition cure systems require a catalyst to initiate the crosslinking reaction between functional groups in the base compound and curing agent, without producing any by-products..

RTV-2 silicone rubber is a remarkable material that possesses exceptional characteristics, such as flexibility, thermal stability, electrical insulation, weather resistance, and chemical inertness. It can withstand a wide range of temperatures, ranging from -50°C to 250°C or even higher depending on the grade, while still maintaining its properties for extended periods of time.

AZ101-43 is two-component silicone rubber that is pourable, addition cure, heat-curing, that vulcanizes after heating. For its excellent durability with polyurethane resin, This product is particularly suited for mold-making material for reproducing intricate structures, the excellent resistance for casting, especially for polyester resins. It enables large numbers of castings to be taken from one mold. Other materials, such as plaster or wax, may also be cast without any problems from molds made of this product.
